In 1982, Australia experienced the worst drought of the twentieth century. There was no rain for more than one year and 60% of Australian sheep and cattle died. Amidst this devastation, that same year the Mannum community soldiered on and built the foundations of a proud sporting club. Today we know this as the Mannum Roos Netball Club.

During its thirty years existence, the club has experienced premiership success 17 times, with the majority of these wins taking place in the past 10 years.

The Mannum Roos Netball Club is not to be confused with the Mannum Netball Club, which always played at the Christian Reserve courts in Murray Bridge. The Mannum Netball Club folded and the Roos Netball Club experienced an influx of players into the junior teams.

There have been many significant player milestones, but none more outstanding than both Katrina ‘Binga’ Reschke playing 300 senior games for the Club recently, along with Kellie Klose playing a combined 300 junior and senior games.

Whilst the courts have been resurfaced a number of times during their life, in 2011 acrylic pave paint is known as ‘Plexipave’ was laid. This is the latest in hard court sport surface technology. The courts are expected to remain in their current condition for at least the next 10 years and it will be around 20 years before any further top coats are required. Significant fundraising and combined effort with the tennis club took place to ensure this longevity for the community courts will benefit the future of the club.
